Casual Swimming

Our swimming pools are located at Avondale, Cheadle, Grand Central, Hazel Grove and Romiley.

All swimming sessions can be booked in advance to secure your place and avoid disappointment. However, if you wish to turn up on the day without a booking, you can do so. If you are turning up to a swim without a booking, please bear in mind that we cannot guarantee availability. If our pool is full on arrival, you are more than welcome to wait and see if a space becomes available in the pool caused by other members finishing their session early.

Pool Temperatures

In line with guidance from the Pool Water Treatment Advisory Group, each of our main pools are heated to 28° – 29°.
All small pools are set between 30° – 31°.

  • Cheadle Main: 28.5°
  • Cheadle Small: 30.5°
  • Grand Central Main: 27.8°
  • Grand Central Oasis: 30.5°
  • Grand Central Spa: 37°

General swim

Whether you want to swim for fun, with the family, or for fitness, our General Swim sessions are open for everyone to enjoy the pool. All children under eight years old require adult supervision in the pools. Lifeguards may ask children who are swimming unsupervised to complete a swim test upon arrival to determine their competence.

Inclusive swim

More Information

Designed for individuals with disabilities or those needing extra assistance. These sessions include our therapeutic warm water swimming and SEND friendly environments, which aim to help familiarise swimmers with our pool space. A full list of inclusive swim options can be found here.

Fun swim

More Information

Enjoy one of our thrilling fun swims which may include access to our slides or inflatable course. Swimmers must be at least eight years of age and be able to swim 25m unaided to access the inflatable, and at least 1.1m tall in addition for the slides at Grand Central. All children under eight years old require adult supervision in the pools. Lifeguards may ask children who are swimming unsupervised to complete a swim test upon arrival to determine their competence.

Lane swim

More Information

A time to relax, focus on you or maybe work on structured length swimming. Lane division will be based on the pace of the swimmers. Swimmers must be able to swim a minimum of 25m and be a least 13 years of age.

If you are a Leisure Key holder, please visit your local Life Leisure hub with your Leisure Key card and a member of the reception team can create you a casual Leisure Key membership which will allow you to book a swimming session at the discounted Leisure Key price.
