The David Hopkins Charity Foundation
Life Leisure have launched a charity foundation in the name of their late Chairman, David Hopkins OBE.
Life Leisure run charity events throughout the year with staff and members giving their time to raise funds. Over the last two years, we have raised in excess of £30k which has been donated to one dedicated charity making a difference to the lives of less fortunate children in an orphanage.
For the forthcoming year a new Charity Foundation has been set up, with a target of £12,000 to be raised by both staff and customers in such events as aerobathons, sponsored walks, cake sales, fancy dress days and bag packing events to name but a few.
The David Hopkins Charity Foundation has been set up and will accept applications from any group or organisation in Stockport up to a value £500 for funding that will benefit their sports club and help to make a difference to the provision of sport, enabling more children and adults from any background to become more active and participate in their chosen activity.
A committee comprising of centre staff, management and board members has been set up and will meet once a quarter to evaluate the applications and award funding accordingly. Applications for funding should be sent to info@lifeleisure.net using the forms available on this page.
David Hopkins was Chairman of Life Leisure (Stockport Sports Trust) until his passing in 2009. He inspired all whom he worked with and was passionate about leading Stockport Sports Trust, inspiring all whom he came in contact with.
