Achieve - Support scheme for World Class Athletes
Achieve is a support scheme for BOA and World Class athletes who live or train in Stockport, providing free annual membership to Stockport Sports Trust facilities and where relevant extend the membership to one coach or training partner of the athlete.
Inspire - the latest blogs and news from local athletes
James Goddard, Triple Commonwealth Gold Medallist is patron of the Inspire project. James has represented Great Britain at Olympic, Commonwealth and European level and returned from the Commonwealth Games in October 2010 with two Gold Medals, winning the Men's 200m Bckstroke and Men's 200m Individual Medley, adding to his Gold Medal from the Manchester 2002 Commonwealth Games. He is a member of Stockport Metro Swimming Club and trains at the British Swimming Intensive Training Centre based at Life Leisure Grand Central in Stockport.
Aspire - assistance for talented young athletes
Providing pathways to help talented youngsters to reach their full potential. The Greater Manchester Sports Fund is available for applications for support funding at www.greatersport.co.uk/projects-information/funding-and-sponsorship/funding-for-talented-athletes/greater-manchester-sports-fund/
Life Leisure is also committed to supporting athletes of the future, through various development, training and performance pathways. Assistance is available to encourage young athletes from within Stockport to progress to a national and international level through financial, educational or training support. Sports Stockport Annual Sports Awards
The annual Sport Stockport Stockport Sports Awards are held in September/October every year honouring Stockport's top athletes, coaches, clubs and volunteers. Winners from the Stockport awards are then entered into the Greater Manchester Sports Awards held annually in November.
The 2011 Stockport Sports Awards, sponsored by Adidas were held at Edgeley Park on Friday 30th September. Winners named on the night were:
