Stockport Sports Village

In March our Football Manager Mike became unwell. After a short period of time without a diagnosis in Tameside Hospital he was transferred to Salford Royal and given the diagnosis of ANCA Vasculitis.

We are beyond proud of Mike’s attuite towards everyday life and his ongoing recovery, which is why we’re encouraging you to join us in taking part in this 13 mile walk to show our support and raise money for Salford Royal and the Devonshire Unit.

On Friday 11^th October we invite you to walk with us from Life Leisure Houldsworth Village to Old Trafford and back. It’s around 13 miles and will take approximately five hours, leaving Houldsworth Village at 10.30am.

Feel free to join for the full route, or dip in and out and complete a distance of your choice. Everyone is welcome so please bring along family and friends too!

We are thrilled to announce that our H1VE studio is becoming an official HYROX partner gym, and we’re kicking off this milestone with a special celebration in the form of a charity fundraiser!

Join us on Saturday 21st September for fitness, fun, and community spirit as we come together to support Stockport Mind. Here’s what you can expect:

Time: Our first session starts at 9.15am with up to five classes to take part in – including a one-hour HYROX session!

From a challenging HYROX-style workout to our popular H1VE classes like Blast, Sculpt, Combat, and GTI, there’s something for everyone. It’s a fantastic opportunity to try something new, bring friends along, and contribute to a meaningful cause.

Tickets for the event are free however spaces are limited and all classes must be booked separately. We can’t wait to see you all there, ready to sweat for a purpose and make a positive impact together!

Dive into a world of possibilities with our new immersive cardio equipment with interactive workouts and personalised training programmes from iFIT. Whether you’re cycling on a virtual beach or conquering a challenging mountain trail, each workout will transport you into a realm of excitement!

Strength training
After conducting research and receiving feedback on what it is you want from the gyms, we’ve invested more in strength training equipment to provide you with the best possible workout space to achieve your goals. We’re talking dedicated cable areas, a brand-new range of weight machines and introducing kit that the gyms have never featured before from Matrix and Glute Builder.

The large gym at Stockport Sports Village offers a wide range of cardio and resistance equipment such as a ski-erg and cable machines as well as plenty of free weights and added extras such as battle ropes. The spacious gym floor caters for all needs and includes an area for floor work too.

StrongHer – beginners weightlifting course for women.

2024 Course start dates:
Monday 9th September
Monday 4th November

Spend six-weeks with our expert coaches and learn everything you need to lift weights safely, efficiently and with confidence, alongside other likeminded women. We’ll teach you how to squat, deadlift, press and pull as well as loads of other essentials! By end of this six-week course, you’ll know how to perform all the main exercises needed to lift weights with confidence.

This course is designed for complete beginners, so even if you’ve never touched a weight before you’ll get along just fine. However, if you do have some experience of lifting weights, you’ll also find this course very beneficial in learning how to structure your workouts, how to lift correctly and iron out any bad habits you may have picked up!

The six-week course is priced at £135.00 and includes:

• Two 60-minute group sessions per week (four members per group)
• Six-week resistance and HIIT training programme
• Core stability training
• Benefits of lifting weights
• How to feel more confident in the gym
• How to structure a good warm up

• Monday: 8.00am and 7.30pm
• Wednesday: 7.30am and 7.00pm
• Thursday: 8.00am and 7.00pm
• Friday: 8.00am

Life Leisure offer a fantastic range of group exercise classes catering for all fitness levels and abilities, such as HIIT, Body Pump, Yoga and Spin. Some classes are more intense than others, but each class can be modified for all abilities with adaptations for exercises given where needed.

All classes can be booked up to seven days in advance and we highly recommend doing so where possible to avoid disappointment. Members can book via the Life Leisure app or website.

H1VE is a group personal training studio located here at Stockport Sports Village.

H1VE classes combine cardio, functional, strength and conditioning training in a group personal training environment to give you a full body workout to remember. With fantastic equipment, state of the art lights and dedicated coaches, it’s easy to see why our members are hooked.

Life Leisure Kids classes cater for children aged 5 – 12 years old and with our specially designed reward scheme encouraging children to make sessions part of their weekly routine.

Stockport Sports Village is proud to be the home of Greave Tennis Club. Previously based in Bredbury, Greave Tennis Club is a fantastic addition to the hub and working the club the team at Stockport Sports Village hope to help to grow the sport locally.

Stockport Sports Village is home to the latest 3G Optima floodlit pitches which are available for hire. Daily SK Ballers 6-a-side leagues take place at the centre. Bookings are also available for clubs, schools, and private use.

Leisure key companion/carer card

Some families or individuals may be eligible for a Leisure Key which is delivered by Stockport Council. This provides discount to swimming and other activities across Life Leisure. In addition, if you are eligible for a Leisure Key Companion/Carer card, you will be able to access the activity for free accompanying an individual to a session. The following steps need to be taken to access this:

1. Check your eligibility criteria with Stockport Council here.
2. Complete any of the relevant information and submit proof of eligibility if required.
3. Once you have your Leisure Key and or Leisure Key Companion card, bring this into a Life Leisure centre and register for a Casual Leisure Key Bookings account at reception.
4. Once this has been registered, you can then book online. For instructions on how to book, please click here.

Gym equipment

For participants who can leave their wheelchair, all resistance machines can be accessed, along with some cardio equipment such as Recumbent bikes and Octane bikes.

The hand bike can be accessed easily for a wheelchair user. For more equipment options, we would recommend visiting Life Leisure Avondale, Life Leisure Cheadle or Life Leisure Houldsworth Village.
