Active Ageing Stockport

Active Ageing in Stockport is a fantastic new programme aimed at helping individuals aged 65+ who have experienced a significant life event by supporting them to become more physically active as part of a healthy lifestyle.

The programme begins with a 12 week peer mentor scheme with the aim of encouraging and supporting local people to access social and inclusive physical activity opportunities.

Active Ageing provides:

  • Peer Mentor support
  • FREE Activity passes
  • An inclusive activity timetable
  • On-going support and advice

Your health professional can complete a referral form or you can complete the self-referral form. A member of the Active Ageing team will then contact you with further details. You can also be referred via one of the partner organisations listed below.

You can also self-refer. We advise you speak to your GP before starting any new exercise or nutrition programme, especially if you currently have any medical conditions or have been sedentary for a long period of time.

Active Ageing Stockport is a local partnership between Age UK Stockport, Stockport Council, Life Leisure and Stockport Homes, with funding from Sport England.

Active Ageing can provide many benefits for an older person. Some of the key benefits include:
