As part of a £2.8m investment programme from Stockport Council, Life Leisure Grand Central has unveiled new centre upgrades and facilities.
Members can now enjoy newly upgraded gym changing and shower facilities. Works dedicated to a new ‘health spa’ are currently underway, which will feature a sauna, steam room, hydrotherapy pool, aromatherapy room and a special relaxation area.
The exciting addition follows previous upgrades to the site’s existing fitness suite and complements Grand Central’s 50m swimming pool.
With new slides and a children’s fun pool also set to open by the summer, Grand Central is living up to its name in terms of the level of facilities on offer.
The funding programme from Stockport Council has also seen Grand Central introduce a series of building and facility management improvements to further enhance operations for years to come.
Stockport Council and Life Leisure are also offering 2 hours free car parking at the NCP Stockport Exchange car park for all Grand Central customers.
Councillor Sheila Bailey, Stockport Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities and Housing, said: “The Council has made a priority to invest in the improvement of Life Leisure sites, so residents can have access to affordable and modernised leisure facilities, with the benefit of having free parking. Grand Central is the most well-used leisure complex in Stockport and I’m sure it will continue to be for years to come thanks to the Council’s continued investment.”
Malcolm McPhail, CEO of Life Leisure, said: “We’ve worked really closely with existing members, the Council and the general public to understand what changes and improvements would make a difference to people’s lives. That’s why, as well as introducing aspects such as the new changing facilities and health spa, we’ve looked at practical measures such as free parking which became possible with Stockport Council.”Back to News
