Life Leisure has reached the finals of the 2019 UKActive Uprising Awards, which recognises the best and brightest in the UKs fitness industry.
The charitable trust that manages 12 sports and leisure facilities in and around Stockport, has been shortlisted for four awards, including the Regional and National Health Club of the Year for Life Leisure Grand Central, which has recently undergone renovations of its children’s pool and health spa.
Seb Rowe, Head of Business Development at Life Leisure, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be nominated for so many awards at the most prestigious leisure industry awards on the event’s calendar.
“We strive to deliver a fantastic service to our community and to be shortlisted for these four awards is a recognition of the whole team’s dedication to providing exceptional service to the community.”
Its Simple Movements Improve Life Every day (SMILE) programme – which is a low impact and gentle exercise concept developed by Life Leisure to encourage older adults to become more active – has been shortlisted for the ‘Activation of the Year Award’.
And its Physical Activity Referral in Stockport (PARiS) scheme, which is an Exercise Referral scheme designed to help inactive people with chronic mild to moderate medical conditions become and stay more physically active, has been shortlisted for the Healthy Community Award.
And finally, Life Leisure’s staff development programme, RTB (Row-the-Boat), which encourages and develops staff from across the business to take on more responsibilities and provides ongoing developmental opportunities, has been nominated for a Transformational Leadership Award.
The UKActive Training Awards, which were established to celebrate the success of the activity workforce and the very best of Learning and Development within the sector, are supported by CIMPSA and sponsored by Active IQ.
The winners will be announced during a glitzy ceremony on June 6 after each finalist is given the chance to meet the judges and discuss their individual schemes in a ‘judges houses’ style event.
