This summer, we are pleased to announced Life Leisure will once again participate in the Holiday Activities and Food programme! The HAF scheme is designed to provide children and young people with fun activities at holiday clubs this summer. Life Leisure are proud to host these sessions, led by our amazing Active Communities team and volunteers.

The programme aims for children who attend this provision to eat more healthily, be more active and engage in enriching activities during the school holidays.

HAF (SEND) Summer Camp

Life Leisure are proud to deliver another Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Holiday Camp during the summer break. This camp aims breaks down barriers and bring together disabled and non-disabled children and young people to enjoy a wide range of activities together.

The camp will be held at Life Leisure Avondale every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday in August (starting from Tuesday 3rd - and ending on Friday 27th). Camps will run from 9am - 1pm and are suitable for children aged 5 – 16 years.

If your child/children are attending our SEND camps and require 1-1 care, we advise that your child's support worker accompany them as unfortunately this is something we are unable to provide.

Every child and young person is eligible for a place on our camps. However, we do have restrictions and guidelines to follow, given by the Department of Education who is funding these camps.

Children and young people who are entitled to benefits related free school meals will take priority, however we can also award funded places to children and young people who are from a disadvantaged areas, are vulnerable or have Special Educational Needs or Disabilities. Once these places have been allocated, we can offer the rest of the places for free.


HAF Registration

Registrations are now open for HAF Summer Holiday Camps. To see if your child is eligible, please register your interest using the online form here.

You will be notified via email if your registration has been accepted or not within 1 week of registering via our online form (please note that this email is NOT a booking confirmation).

If your registration has been accepted, you will receive an email with instructions on how to book your preferred venue along with dates and times with 1 week of registering. Once booked on, you will receive another email the day after confirming your place with further details on what to expect on the day.

COVID19 Safety Measures

It is important that all attendees adhere to government guidance and restrictions to keep each other safe during the pandemic. We ask that all families and support workers follow our guidance throughout our venues:

  • Only one parent/guardian will be allowed entry to register your child's attendance.
  • On arrival, there will be one staff member waiting to register your child. Your child will then be accompanied by another member of staff to where the activity will take place. 
  • Although face coverings won't be mandatory, we do advise that masks are worn while walking through the reception area unless medically exempt or under 11 years of age.
  • We also ask that you continue to remain a 1 meter distance from others in the building where possible.

Please note that all locations for the camps are fully risk assessed and accessible.

Each location has different facilities for us to use for a variety of different fun activities, sports and recreation for your children to enjoy either outdoors or indoors (depending on which camp you attend).

The times that are available will be added to our Life Leisure Active Communities social media page, the Life Leisure webpages and also on your booking confirmation (if your registration has been accepted).

Immediately after booking you will receive an email confirming your interest. We will by the 20th July send an email to all successful applications to confirm your place, venue and time. Unsuccessful applications will also receive an email to confirm they have been unsuccessful, but will be placed on a waiting list (but we hope to fulfil all applications).

If you need to change your booking before attending the camp there will be an email provided on the booking confirmation for you to contact but please be patient for someone to reply. You can also ask our wonderful coach’s on the day during the camp if there is another day you cannot attend, where they will take all the necessary steps in helping you.

Registration will be in the same place every day. You will also receive this information in your confirmation email specific to your venue. There will be posters and banners showing where registration is but our welcoming staff will be pointing you in the right direction.

All our staff come from different backgrounds but all have one thing in common which is offering the BEST diverse activity camps delivery with varied and inclusive opportunities for children and young people. Our staff are recruited for their attitude, enthusiasm and dedication to caring for children. Some are primary PE leads, some are coaches, some are youth workers, we have play leaders and volunteers. More importantly they have gone through the necessary DBS checks, safeguarding qualifications, first aid training and possess a wide-ranging skillset for a varied activity offer.

If you don’t attend we will encourage you to inform us beforehand or if you will not make future booked dates. If you miss up to three then unfortunately your remaining booked places will be removed and made available to others.

Each child should wear appropriate clothing to do some physical activity in and appropriate for the weather which may include bringing/applying sun cream, wearing waterproof clothing and/or wearing suitable footwear for the day ahead. Our arts and crafts activities and cooking can get messy and we would rather your child's best clothes don't get ruined. Aprons will be provided for cooking. Additionally please make sure they bring any medication that is required.

No - a hot or cold meal will be provided on the day.

Yes - Please make sure your child brings plenty of drinks.

Every day up to 30 different types of activities are available ranging from various sports such as Football, Athletics, Dodgeball, arts and crafts activities, involvement with nature/gardening and differentiation within the activity delivery to allow for an inclusive environment. If you are still unclear and you wish to find out exactly what activities will be involved on that day, please ask the deliverers in the morning what the day’s plans are.

Yes. At the end of each day our staff will be more than happy to talk to you in the collection area and tell you all about how much fun they have had in their group on that day.

Each deliverer is trained to deal with any situation to make sure that everyone is kept safe and engaged throughout the day. If there are any problems, any of the deliverers can be spoken to, to resolve an issue.

We would like parents to be arriving 5 minutes before the end so that it ensures the smooth transition and the kids aren’t waiting around for too long after there day of fun filled activities.

Often we have 'special guests' visit us on site, offering children slightly different experiences to what we normally provide.
