Stockport Metro have swimming schemes available for all ages and abilities. Before structured lessons begin, Stockport Metro offer Baby Splash and Toddler Splash sessions for pre-school children aged 0-4 years. Please click here for more information on pre-school swimming.

Little Splashers (Aged 1-2 years)

The Little Splashers scheme is designed for parents & children to be in the water together to experience movement, floating and water confidence activities. Parents will be taught how to be the support for their children. As children gain confidence they will progress to our Swim tots lessons. Please see our dates for parents/guardians 2022.

Swim Tots Lessons (Aged 3-4 years)

The swim tots scheme is designed for parents and children to be in the water and have fun together to gain experience of relaxation, body position and underwater confidence. Stockport Metro lessons use a hands on method and parents will be taught how to be the support for their children. Swim tots links directly with our junior lesson programme. Please see our dates for parents/guardians 2022.

Junior Swimming Lessons (Aged 4+)

Stockport Metro's Junior Lessons scheme is available for children aged 4+ years and cater for beginners and improvers. Stockport Metro Swimming Lessons focus on relaxation, body position and underwater confidence whilst ensuring your children also have lots of fun! Please see our dates for parents/guardians 2022.

Adult Swimming Lessons (Aged 16+ years)

Stockport Metro offer a comprehensive scheme for adults which recognises an adults personal goals. The programme provides a scheme of work, recognises progress and provides the foundation skills which are developed to ensure you reach your full potential. Supported Swimming Lessons (Aged 4 - 11 years)

Stockport Metro's Supported Lesson scheme is for children aged 4 – 11 years with a disability who may need more support and a smaller class size than mainstream lessons can offer. The aim of these lessons is to teach children to become more independent in the water and help them to join a mainstream class. What's Next?

Once your child has completed Badge 4 there are many options available to them to continue in the water. Stockport Metro deliver the following more advanced programmes should your child not wish to progress down the competitive swimming route:

Children completing their 100m badge on Badge 4 will be invited to 6 FREE weeks of stroke development with Stockport Metro coaching.

Swimmers on the stroke development course will work on stroke technique for front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly to aid their progression through badge 4 along with learning the foundations of competitive skills such as starts, streamlining, tumble turns and diving.

Available to children who have completed Stockport Metro badge 4. 

The Swim England Challenge Awards encourage children to progress their skills and stamina and concentrate on good stroke style over increasing distances and improve skills such as treading water, sculling, surface dives and underwater swimming. 

Challenge Award classes are available at Life Leisure Romiley (0161 430 3437). 

ASA Challenge Awards Scheme

Available to children who have completed Stockport Metro badge 4. 

The Rookie Lifeguard programme gives children training on being confident and water safe in the pool and in open water, teaching them personal survival, rescue and lifesaving skills.

Rookie lifeguard courses are taught at Life Leisure Romiley (0161 430 3437). Please contact the facility of your choice for more details.

Synchronised swimming is a combination of dancing, gymnastics and swimming. Synchro is performed in solos, duets or teams to music. We offer a 2 week free trial, so why not come down and try it out for yourself?
